Goal #37: Three Years of Photoshoots

2026-06-12

Recently, I crossed out another goal from my list of 100 goals: to have a personal photoshoot three years in a row.

This goal means more to me than it might seem.

When I was in my twenties, I always dreamed of having a professional photoshoot. I did it once, but I made the whole experience much more complicated than it needed to be. I believed that before a photoshoot, I had to be perfect.

I thought I needed the perfect figure, perfect skin, perfect hair, and the perfect look. I spent so much time worrying about how I looked that I forgot what photos are really for.

Looking back, I feel sad that I thought this way.

Then, when I was 32 years old, I made a different decision. I decided that I would have a photoshoot every year, no matter what.

It would not matter whether I was skinny or overweight. It would not matter if my skin was having a good day or a bad day. It would not matter if I looked perfect.

Because photos are not about perfection.

They are about memories.

They are about capturing a moment in your life that will never come back. They are about remembering who you were, what you loved, and how your life looked at that time.

Over the past three years, I kept this promise to myself. Every year, I showed up for a photoshoot just as I was.

And now, I can finally cross goal #37 off my list.

I am grateful that I learned this lesson: you do not need to wait until you are perfect to deserve beautiful memories.

The best time to capture your life is now.
