I recently completed Goal #29 from my 100 goals list: spending one full week with no internet. I made a few simple rules for myself. I allowed myself to work, because my job only requires a few specific apps and websites. But outside of work, there was no social media, no Google, no browsing, and basically no phone use at all.
The results surprised me.
During that week, I read six books. I felt bored many times — and it actually felt amazing. It was the opposite of feeling overwhelmed. Time moved slowly, and I suddenly had space in my mind. Because of that, I felt very creative and full of new ideas. After the challenge ended, I continued reading a lot more and naturally started using my phone much less.
I also made some long-term changes. I deleted many unnecessary apps and turned off notifications for every single app. I felt more in control and more peaceful.
Of course, there were some downsides. I didn’t tell anyone about my challenge, so a few people were worried when I didn’t reply for seven days. Next time, I’ll make sure to communicate it better.
Overall, this no-internet week was a powerful reset. It showed me how much space and calm I can create in my life when I disconnect — and how many good habits can grow from it.
