My first book publishing project is finally done!

2022-09-05

For the past year, I was focusing on some very exciting project! I was offered to lead a publishing project. The author gave me his trust and here I am, in my room full of just printed books!

What did I learn during this time?

  • Without a plan and a deadline, it’s impossible! I had a few main deadlines: to prepare a final text version until May 2022, and to finish the project until September 2022. Actually, I started to work on the book back in 2021, but as I didn’t have a plan at first it was going very slow. When I made a plan with the deadlines it was my breakthrough.
  • At some point you have to stop, there is no such thing as perfection with your first project! I was also responsible for the editorial work and proofreading. It always felt not good enough. Sometimes after hours of editing, I wanted to quit. But, I just had to give up my fear to appear imperfect and just did my best and stopped (still think is imperfect, but I accepted that).
  • Have a great team! To be alone is not the answer. I worked with a wonderful team and you should too. Give most of the work to professionals or bring some enthusiastic individuals together and nobody will stop you.
  • Have fun! In my childhood, I was making my own books from old journals, I was even writing stories and imagining how it would be to actually publish them. I had so much fun and now after 20 years, I felt exactly the same while working on this project.
